London Club International

The Royal Western India Turf Club - established in 1802 - conducts racing at Mumbai's Mahalaxmi Racecourse and in Pune to the South East. Strong credentials in the leisure sector led the club to approach WGI to prepare and promote a design for a new high end hotel and leisure facilities at the 225-acre Mahalaxmi site.
The eight-star development was to incorporate the club/hotel building with 55 luxury suites and rooms, a sports complex, conference centre, spa and villas. Independent buildings within the development were to include a polo club, entertainment centre, new club building for existing members, amateur riders' club facilities, a golf driving range and new residential accommodation.
WGI worked in the role of lead designer providing architectural services for the £100 million, 35,000m2 project. The stunning development proposal, which exceeded the club's expectations and was delivered within the agreed timeframe and in compliance with the business case, retained a heritage status building - an important relic of the era of the British Raj.
