WGI has a broad experience of designing technology facilities,
covering a wide range of client groups, building types and
processes and, although identified as a separate sector, it also
extends into our work in defence, workplace and healthcare.
Our approach is based on the need to understand in detail the
process to be contained within a facility. Therefore our design
objectives have always been to produce process led buildings in
which the technology and personnel can function safely, securely
and effectively whilst responding to the external surroundings and
giving the facilities a local identity. These objectives include
the need to consider the assembly and installation of equipment as
part of the design and building process.
Our experience includes research facilities, data centres, mail
handling centres, printing works, testing and maintenance
facilities, and such are the specific demands of individual
projects that it often requires an assimilation of knowledge across
a range of building types to embrace the latest technology and
create an efficient and successful design.
